Assignment #2 - Abstraction

I have chosen the 5th one to represent my snowman(2nd row, 2nd snowman).

I was unable to present to all my classmates once again due to time constraints. Hence only about 4 of my classmates and Miss Siti saw my work

Nonetheless, after discussing with the small group i presented to, they told me i should include in the Carrot nose as it is distinctively 'Snowman'. I could then do away with the cap. Actually, i personally quite like the cap. The cap is able to join up with the rest of the snowman to produce an image such that there are no lines in the whole Snowman itself. It became a 'one stroke' drawn piece.

Oh yes, i had drawn and scanned in the picture as you can see. =) Reason being im not too comfortable with Freehand and i rather draw. Moreover, I was told it is not a requirement to use computer software for this piece of assignment.

Will this do? Or will it be better if i use Freehand to draw it? Comments please =)

Assignment #1 Me, Myself & I

I think i need to improve on my alphabet 'A' and 'E' (i really need help with these 2 alphabets!) because it does not incorporate the idea of strawberry into my name completely. My initial thumbnial sketches had some leaves on those 2 alphabets but i thought they looked a bit weird so i took them off.

However, after my presentation in class, i learned that i should add them in as my classmates said it would add more 'life' into the name. I guess i would do that for my final piece. Right now, i am so worried about not knowing how to use Freehand still!

I had some problems with the outcome of the printing as well. The seeds on the strawberry did not show on the printing very well. Even on the computer now, it seems like you cannot really make out if there are seeds or not. I might need to work on the seeds to make it more obvious. Afterall, i really want to convey that i love strawberries!

I did not present this to the whole class due to time constraints. So perhaps the rest might want to comment on it?

For the second piece on Rainbows, i actually like the effect of the greyscale rainbow! It turned out to be very pleasant! I feel that it really conveys my hatred for rainbows because the coulours are dull. Ms Siti and the few classmates which i presented to all agreed that it was well done and i should stick with the greyscale version instead of the coloured one which i also brought along to present.

On a side note, i am still wondering if it is possible for me to incorporate the hatred of rainbows in my alphabet 'a' and 'e' ? I seem to have a major problem with these 2 letters...
